Video Streaming & Podcasts

The web has always been a primarily visual medium and video is an increasingly important means of online communication,. Unlike in the early days of the Web when you were considered lucky to wait for four hours to download a matchbox sized clip technological advances such as the widespread adoption of broadband mean that far more can be achieved.

Video streaming is the technique whereby users can start viewing a movie almost while the rest of it downloads or “streams” in the background. This produces much higher response rates for users who are used to watching video in more immediate settings e.g. Television.
We use such technologies as Real Video, QuickTime, Flash and Microsoft Windows Media to help serve these streams to users over the net.

We also work closely with external video production companies to help plan, direct and produce your movies. Because at the end of the day even with the best technology in the world delivering your video it won’t help if it’s been shot in a dark room, with a shaky camcorder, “rustle-rustle” sound and the lens cap left on!

Podcasting (or “vodcasting” as video podcasting is sometimes known) is a technique like news feeds that allows users to subscribe to new episodes via a piece of software called an “aggregator” and download them automatically as they become available. We work with this type of “push technology” to help our clients get their message across using this increasingly popular medium.
