(Internet Information Services) is Microsoft's Web server software. IIS runs under the server versions of Windows, adding full HTTP capability to the Windows operating system and is normally bundled with the distribution. Formerly known as "Internet Information Server," IIS is currently in its 6th production version, which introduces various security and performance enhancements. IIS is also available in a restricted version for the client versions of Windows.
